I think I am drowning in lists. My head is spinning, my speech centres have crashed, and I have a permanent groove in my nose from my reading glasses…
So, to try to keep on top of things, each day I aim do at least one thing from one of the lists. It’s not just the packing and preparing for the trip, its making sure everything you leave behind is all sorted too!
So yesterday I did the trip insurance. How you compare the different policies remains a mystery to me. Why do you need £10million health expenses? Surely $5million is more than enough, and then there’s another £5million for repatriation – are they going to take me home attached to a vintage champagne drip in a gold plated limo driven by George Clooney? I would not object, clearly, although Brian might prefer a different driver…
The day before it was the scooter insurance, which inconveniently expires after we leave. Fortunately it can be renewed in advance and we just have to take both sets of documents with us and discard the existing set when it expires. Herumph.
Files! Now I need files to keep all this paperwork in order. And a hole punch. And a stapler, and file dividers. And maybe some tranquilisers.
But first I must drive to Farnham, drop off my year end books, then on to Mansfield, stay the night, delve in a crate of exhibition stuff, bring half of it back, dump in at home, sleep, jump on a train to London with my parents for my Mum’s specialist appointment, come home again, go out with B’s son and daughter in law, go to bed, get up (late), recover, swim (hopefully) go to a party (shame) and hopefully not be hanging too badly on Bank Holiday Monday. Four days later we pack the stuff back in the car and drive to Geneva on an 8 day trip for another trade show. When we get back we will have just over 2 weeks left to prepare.
Tranquilisers? Several glasses of red wine may just have to do instead….
