After a couple of days here we got on Kymi and went to visit Tavira, on the recommendation of Mike and Eryl who are lucky enough to have a place there – though unfortunately they were not due to be in it at this time.

As they said, it is a very lovely town.  It has a pretty old town centre, some castle ruins and great shops and restaurants.    Like Fuzeta it also has a ferry to the offshore sand islands for the day at the beach.  We had an excellent lunch on the harbourside, courtesy of one of those waiters with the gift of the gab getting us in – all he had to do actually was promise B some sardines, which is not a big ask round here!

After that we wandered round the shops and up to the castle (more steps B).  The views across the town from there are worth climbing the steps, though going back down some of them was, well, another testicle moment….

...and the steps down (note lack of rails or hand holds!)
