The day after the Milford Sound excursion we were off again, this time to a site at Arrowtown, near Queenstown. Again, some wonderful scenery on the way and a very interesting yard!

Queenstown is a big ski resort and party town loved by snow sport holidaymakers. We had to go through it to get to the site as we needed to check in with a garage about our leaking back window in the van. Turned out they could do nothing to help – they didn’t even know we were coming! – so it was an unnecessary diversion.
Arrowtown is the cutest place, a lot of lovely clapboard buildings, all in great condition, with side alleys of shops and cafes.

Here we were offered the chance to change our van as a result of the leaky back window. There was a base for the van provider at the nearby airport just 10 minutes away, so we went for it. Sadly for us this turned out to be a huge mistake, but that’s the glory of hindsight.
On our second night we went up in cable cars to the panoramic restaurant which overlooks Queenstown. Very dramatic.
