I actually wrote the first post, this, and several more in the first weeks of 2011, on a traditional note pad. Those of my generation will understand. We are the lost generation, caught between the traditional paper and pen we grew up with and the word processors and computers which have shaped our adult lives. I remain somewhat at sea with technology, not really understanding it, having to focus hard to use it, to find my way through it and forever wondering when it will get easier and not require the services of someone else’s teenager to fully utilise the potential.
So now I am transcribing, while adding a few more thoughts along the way…
I am on approach to the big 5-0, not on short finals yet, but I see it looming in 2012 and so now, finally, my age is starting to bother me. There are all the usual signs. I do keep fit, but now my body aches almost constantly as a result and there is usually at least one ache which is actually more than that, but of course I ignore it. I need reading glasses for small print and bad light – only magnification #1 so far, but nonetheless I need them. So I bought a groovy pair last week. And then theres the memory – I know the unreliable nature of my ability to recall is shared by many, but it is nevertheless frustrating at times. Shame you can’t buy another cool solution to deal with that problem too. Apparently the glass of Shiraz may provide comfort but will only excacerbate the symptoms…..
