Sunday 9th June 2013, rain threatens, lightning predicted
Yesterday it rained most of the day, while frustratingly Weymouth basked in sunshine. How did that happen?
To avoid getting the Harley wet, we walked into town to visit the weekly market and have some lunch (yes, again). We bought some meat and vegetables from the stalls and retreated to a restaurant with outside tables under a stone gallery on the main square (much smaller than the one at Uzes, but still lovely). We dined on Plat du Jour – a French version of beef stew as it turned out, and a pichet of vin rouge. When in France…
The restaurant proper turned out to be located in the most fabulous building with a big stone staircase and lots of different rooms. all with exposed stone walls, around a central terrace. We decided to go back one evening and dine indoors to experience it better.
Today we had been invited to a reception for the local association which maintains a canal in the Camargue, but the dodgy weather prediction means it was cancelled. Shame, I was looking forward to a bit of local life. Instead we are contemplating cooking some of the meat on our electric skillet, which has so far proved a good buy. All campers will tell you, whenever possible cook outside as it keeps the van clean, is more fun – and generally means the men do it! Result!!
