First – A footnote to the post on Rocamadour – we stayed in an Aire – this time the coach park which is next to the Chateau at the top of the hillside. B went to off to see if the cafe had a tv. Then the bells of the church started to chime a very pretty tune, and I could hear choir-like singing to it. I looked out of the window and saw a group of teenagers with backpacks marching across the coach park – and singing – beautifully! It was amazing. B heard and saw the same from by the cafe and did the same double take as me. A magic moment.
Sunday 24th June, 53 miles, warm and sunny
We woke at 7am to the same church bells playing their pretty tune….then we set off for Cahors, our next stop. We needed a proper campsite for 3 nights to allow the office to send a replacement bag to me as we had totally knackered the original one dragging it over the cobbles in Paris – yes there are cobbles in Paris – and we found most of them!
Eventually, after skirting the entire town and being satnagged through a housing estate and past another large crane (they must breed near campsites in France) we finally found Camping Riviere de Cabessut on the river Lot.
Tuesday 26th June, Kymi 92km, hot and sunny – yay!
Yesterday doesn’t get a proper entry – it was dull and not very warm and I worked while B did chores all day, having just avoided a hangover from consoling himself after England lost to Italy and are now out of the cup.
Today we thought we should check out Cahors for lunch after my “morning in the office”. We scootered in, photographed the famous bridge and decided it was listed as the most photographed bridge in France as theres not much else to photograph in Cahors, which seemed a bit tired to us.
So at midday we jumped back on Kymi and scootered along the dramatic Lot valley to St. Circ Lapopie – yes we are still picking the great names! Now this was a place to have lunch…..
Not quite the Harley is it……but it got us here:
