There was a teasing taster back in May when we used Horatio to tow his little buddy fully loaded – so Thor on board – to go to his first trade show. That’s Thor’s first show – as you may remember we took Horatio to Geneva a couple of years ago and cruelly abandoned him at the back of the exhibition halls with some big trucks as company. I think he forgave us…
So this time was for Thor – we renamed The Beast as he, like Horatio, seems to attract the more entertaining weather as soon as he goes out. And it’s a big heavy powerful noisy name, so actually perfect!
So soon – next week in fact – we are due to hitch the trailer again and take both rainmakers to Devon for a few days. We found last time that manoeuvring the trailer is a challenge. We have a reversing camera but B still needs some feedback from me at the back. Thing is he is about 35 feet away so we either have to bawl at each other or I run backwards and forwards like a demented bunny. The first option is not going to be popular in the middle of a tranquil field and whilst the second promises to be hugely entertaining for the other campers (and one way to keep fit I suppose) we don’t really fancy being the centre of attention when it inevitably doesn’t quite go to plan.
So the current solution is to dig out the radios we bought a few years back for a skiing trip with the boys. I’m still nervous about it as I’m not sure how to give good directions and I really hope that the volume is low enough that nobody notices.
Fat chance! Everyone knows watching other campers set up is part of the camping experience… So Crediton campers, brace yourselves as the circus is coming to town (or field in this case) !
