OMG its 0645 and I am on the computer having been out for a power walk! Its still too early to make too much noise so I hardly dared move in the kitchen while creating the compulsory congratulatory cuppa. Alliteration, if my dim, distant memory of my O level English serves me correctly.

This house is upside down – great for views, but not so great when one of you is up early (generally me) and the other is still trying to sleep downstairs, under the kitchen. I have actually been getting up early for exercise for some time now. Not every day, usually 2 to 3 days a week, from when I was 48 and 1/4 (who remembers that diary) and the 50 marker had started to loom. Aim – to be fit and fab at 50. It was all going well until my spine decided it had different ideas and is currently going for payback on my self-inflicted overly hectic and stress-ridden life. Hah, gotcha, its saying. Each time I think NO, got you – I’m getting better – then comes the reminder – Hah, I haven’t finished with you yet…..

Meantime, some weekends B actually gets up early – extremely early for weekend mornings and extremely reluctantly as its in the No Choice category. It also ticks the box of No Sympathy He’s Your Son And You Got Him Into Football So Its Your Come Uppance Now category. Then its my turn for the bad news and I get 2 of them thundering about in the kitchen above my head, but only after lots of not so quiet reminders to Get Out Of Bed Now Or You Will Be Late, so, I conclude, I am in the No Rest For The Unsympathetic category.
