How Many Sets of Keys does it take?

He fits! Just needs a jaunty angle.

I just realised it 10 days since my last post.  Something to do with the flat spin I have been in since then.  The pressure peaked on Thursday when we brought Horatio to the house so that we could run in and out with stuff instead of having to put it all in the car and drive to the barn where he lives which would inevitably mean several trips as things were forgotten – despite my lists!

That took 5 sets of keys to achieve.  One set to move B’s truck off the drive.  Another to drive mine to the barn.  A third to get into the barn (see previous comments!).  The fourth set to drive Horatio and the fifth to get back into the house.

Then run in and out is exactly what we did.  And up the stairs and down the stairs, and into the studio and out again, back in the kitchen, into the van, shuttling from the bedroom and in and out of the garage.  Stop. Cup of tea.  Start again.

At just before 2pm B realised we were supposed to take Kymi for a service.  Of course we had already loaded him into Horatio’s garage so we had to heave him out again – that entailed parking the van across the road to get the ramp in place for the second time that day – and using a sixth set of keys to move Kymi to the garage.

Meantime B had left the first set – for his truck – in my car at the barn.  So to avoid trailing over to the garage with Horatio to pick me up, he then had to follow me on the Harley.  Key set number seven for the day!

I’m exhausted just writing about it.  It felt like I lost pounds that day – for a change not the purple folding ones.  Finally we collapsed onto the dining chairs for wine and dinner followed by sofa then bed, ready to do it all again on Friday.

But once Horatio was returned to the barn, replete with Kymi and half of my wardrobe (and considerably less of Bs’), the pressure did lift somewhat.

I have one list left – a much shorter one consisting of all last minute items we need to take in the car on Tuesday when we go to collect Horatio for real.

In the meantime we have posted bank forms, arranged for 6 birthday cards to go out a various times, sorted an 18th birthday present, had the scooter saddle reupholstered, washed the van, checked the tyre pressures, loaded everything I need to keep working on route including about 30kg of carpet samples and another 15kg of metal ones, printed the right copy of our ferry ticket (!), had every vital document scanned and saved, converted euros, stopped bank statements, redirected post, had another key crisis trying to get enough sets for neighbours to hold, and even found that there is still space in some cupboards!

But we still don’t have a bucket….

Bling scooter!
