Even when playing boules – seems some boules are bigger than others. With the very mixed ability in our newly formed expats Boules and Aperos club (with a small c) nobody claimed any advantage or disadvantage due to this, though it seems to have a small effect on measuring distance from the cochonne (not sure if thats the correct spelling for the little jack ball). Mind you so does trying to read the tape measure without glasses!
