Yay! on the way again.  Horatio has transported us, Nimbus, Thor, and Honeysuckle over 800 miles in just 3 days – 400 of them in one go, right across the centre of France, over the Massif Central – his fourth crossing of the region.  Again I looked at all the signs and wanted to stop everywhere, but again we had a target so looked at the amazing views and kept going – one day….

Its a fabulous motorway – free from Clermont Ferrand, the middle of the Puy de Dome – extinct volcanos surround the area. And in August its hot hot hot!

So, nine and a half hours after we left our overnight stop of Marcilly sur Eure (near Dreux, er not far from Chartres – should have gone there but that’s another story – should have stuck to plan A, always stick to plan A, rule number 37) we arrived in Millau, which is also, unsurprisingly, hot!

So what to do when its hot and you’re in a place full of scenery – get out Thor and ride!  So we did and here are a couple of shots of what we saw.  Stunning scenery and lunch about 25 miles up the Tarn valley from Millau, in lovely shaded garden outside an old stone built hotel.  Plat du Jour – of course, always best value, and today’s was a charcuterie plate, washed down with a small cold beer.

Tonight we crack out the latest new toy – a gas barbecue which can also be a hot place, griddle or wok – that should be entertaining, and as its a boy toy (must be as B found and purchased it) then in theory (and my dreams), I’m off the hook 😉
